Clara M. (Munday) Coomer, 88, of Evansville, IN. formerly of Columbus, IN., died at 1:20 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Evansville, IN.
Mrs. Coomer was born in Columbia, KY. on April 13, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Dee Moss Munday.
She married Lucian R. Coomer in Sparkesville, KY. on December 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1999.
Mrs. Coomer was a homemaker and she cleaned homes for many years.
She was a member of Free Methodist Church in Columbus, IN. where she served many years in several capacities, but none as dear to her heart as serving in the nursery.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Clara will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. with Mrs. Coomer’s grandson, Rev. Raymond Akin officiating.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 10:00 A.M. on Monday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN.

Mrs. Coomer is survived by a daughter, Alice (Harold) Akin of Evansville, IN.; two grandsons of which she was very proud of their accomplishments in life, James Allen (Regina) Akin of Evansville, IN. where he is the Clinical Director of Council for Change and Rev. Raymond (Dana) Akin of Owensboro, KY.; three sisters, Wynell (Gerald) Coomer of Campbellsville, KY., Opal Janes of Louisville, KY. and Zylpha Fudge of Chicago, IL.; a brother, Don (Jean) Munday of Campbellsville, KY.; and five great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband of 56 years, Mrs. Coomer was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cosby and Roy Munday.
