Zylphia was born on January 11, 1934 in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Sarah and Haisten Robinson. She graduated from Abbeville High School. Zylphia attended and graduated from Perry Business College in Dothan, Alabama. It was at Perry Business College where she met her future husband, Harold B. Johnson. They were married on May 26, 1953 and lived in Victoria, Texas as Harold was in the Air Force. After Harold was discharged from the Air Force, they moved to Columbus in January 1957. She was a homemaker and stay at home mom. Zylphia went to work with Barnett Bank after her two sons completed school. She retired from the bank in 1995. She loved her family and spending time with friends and her faithful canined companion Smokey. Zylphia was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia where she and Harold were members of the couples Sunday School Class. In her free time Zylphia enjoyed knitting, she was known for having knitting needles in her hands knitting an afghan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Haisten Robinson and her son, Dale K. Johnson.
Zylphia is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Harold B. Johnson; her loving son, David H. Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnson; her loving grandsons; Kyle (Anna) Johnson, Ryan (Allie) Johnson, and Harrison Johnson; her loving great-granddaughter, Chandler Johnson.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jerry Speer officiating in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia. Family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
