Wynell Massey Sellers, age 85, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. A visitation for the family and friends of Wynell will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA.
Wynell was born, August 2, 1938, in Luverne, Alabama; the daughter of Comer C. Massey and Grace G. Kimbro Massey. Wynell graduated from Troy State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music and from Georgia State University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology.
On July 7, 1958, Wynell married Lonnie Ray Sellers at Mt. Ida Methodist Church, Luverne, Alabama. Wynell worked in the field of Personnel Management for the State of Georgia before she retired after 35 years. She was a faithful member of St. Peter United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA. Wynell enjoyed bowling; she was on a team and in a league. She enjoyed reading, going for walks, and playing the piano. Wynell loved her family, she enjoyed spending time together, and companionship of her dogs.
Wynell is preceded in death by: her mother, Grace Massey; her father, Comer Massey; and her husband, Lonnie Ray Sellers.
Survivors include: her son, Warren Sellers (spouse, Beth Sellers); daughter, Jan Miller (spouse, Dr. Joseph Miller III); granddaughter, Lydia Healy (spouse, Mike Healy); grandsons, Jonah Sellers, Joshua Sellers, Chris Miller (spouse, Rhonda Miller); granddaughter, Kami Miller; grandson, Kyle Miller; granddaughter, Samantha Jones; grandson, Andrew Jones; great granddaughter, Brittany Irvin; and great grandsons, Brayton Miller, and Payton Miller.
