Wornie Smith

Wornie Smith, 67, of Columbus, Georgia, died on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 17, 1955, he was the son of the late Emest Leon and Jimmie Ann (Pelham) Smith.

Wornie loved hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, playing poker and gaming with the boys but most importantly spending time with his grandbabies.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn (Strickland) Smith; his loving children, Curtis (Kalyn Ribron) Smith, Rachelle Smith (Jesse) Jarrell; his loving grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Addeson, Emily, Corbin, Caroline, Maverick; and his loving siblings, Judy and Rogers Evans, Kathy Echols, Loretta and Junior Pate, Paulette and Tim Newman, Curtis Jay and Betty Smith, Jimmy Ray and Kim Smith.

In addition to his loving parents, Wornie was preceded in death by his loving brother, Mark Smith and his loving sister, Cynthia Gibson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary-Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31901 on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00AM. Pastor Jonathan McNeese will be officiating services. Family will visit with friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Wednesday evening, March 22, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and Thursday morning from 9:00AM to 10:00AM. Burial will follow the chapel service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
