(SSG Ret) Winford Willis Johnson, age 86, of Midland, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. Winford was born in Eastman, Georgia. While visiting a cousin's church, he met the love of his life, and spent the next 68 years with Miss Betty.
Winford joined the Army and was proud to serve his country as a Vietnam Veteran. He was very active even into his 80’s. He was owner of Johnson Dump Trucks, Inc., 441 Speedway and Cochran Motor Speedway and spent his latter years purchasing and selling cars. He loved his family deeply, and enjoyed playing Phase 10 with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan and enjoyed eating breakfast each morning with friends at Waffle House.
Winford was preceded in death by his son, Dewayne Johnson; his father, Hoyt Johnson; his mother, Ruby Lee Oxley Johnson; and his brother, Freeman Johnson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Betty Marie Butler; his daughters, Debby Bowen, Dianna Sneddon (Rick); his grandchildren, Casey Hight, Jessica Quattlebaum (Justin), Kayla Johnson-Berger (Zack), Blake Johnson (Nina); great grandchildren, Mason Quattlebaum, Noah Quattlebaum, and Gracie Johnson; sister, Evelyn Fountain; sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson also leaves other family members and many friends to cherish his memory.
