A funeral service will be held to honor Bill on Thursday January 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Bobby Lynn McManious officiating. The visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Bill was born in Knox City, Texas on February 20, 1948, to Ada C. and Glenn M. Lee. His family settled in Columbus, Georgia after his dad’s retirement from the Army. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbus High School. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Linda Gail Dye. He was drafted into the Army four months later for the Vietnam War. Bill received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service. When he returned home Bill applied himself to building beautiful homes in the Chattahoochee Valley. Together they called the Columbus area home until he, along with the rest of the family, built the home of their dreams in the Box Springs Community. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa who leaves this world a better place for being the loving, kind, caring and gentle soul he was to all who had the opportunity of knowing him. He was the patriarch that led by example. He gave all and expected none the less, you have to put your whole heart into it. Bill was blessed with a sense of humor that would always break the tension of any situation. He was Baptist by faith and lived his life by example of his faith. There will not be a day that goes by in which he will not be thought of, longed for and greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his wife of 55 years, Linda G. Lee; his loving children: Sandra K. Lee, William R. Lee II, Jennifer L. Lee, Christopher J. Lee (Chas), Kimberly G. Lee and Kerry M. Carter; his very adored grandchildren: Hunter Lee, Madison Lee, Mackenzie Lee, and Kaylee Carter; and his adored great-granddaughter, Madalynn Lee. His beloved border collie, Katie, who brought him so much joy outside.
