William (Bill) J. Mason, 80, of Columbus, GA departed this life early Sunday morning at Columbus Hospice surrounded by his two sons and daughter in law. He passed after a brief illness. Bill was born in Crestview, FL to Will and Roxie Mason on September 1, 1933. He had three sisters. When Bill graduated Crestview High School he was drafted into the US Army and sent to Korea to fight the Korean War. He reenlisted and served three tours in Viet-Nam where he earned a Purple Heart and other military decorations. He served peace time tours in Panama, Alaska and finally Ft Benning, where he retired.
Bill is survived by his sons, William J. Mason Jr., Christopher Mason and his wife Chanin. His wife of 40 years, Myra, passed away in January and his grief undoubtedly contributed to his demise.
