Wayne Daniel Houston passed away peacefully on July 24, 2018 at home at Spring Harbor surrounded by his wife and family. Wayne, a graduate from Jordan High School, was an insurance salesman for Independent Life Insurance Co. and United Insurance Co. He later owned Wire Road Feed and Seed in Auburn, AL and then worked as an office manager for River Road Animal Clinic until his retirement. He was an outdoors man who loved hunting, fishing and golfing. He was an avid horseman, riding training and showing horses which is where he met his wife, Carol Carpenter Houston. They were happily married 32 wonderful years. Wayne was diagnosed with lymphoma of the brain in 2004. He conquered the cancer through chemo and radiation for 14 years, an amazing feat by any measurement, but complications continued. For the last few years, Wayne had endured countless setbacks and surgeries, but had always maintained his generous spirit and love of his life and his family.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Carol Carpenter Houston, his only surviving brother, Jerry Houston; 12 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffer-Hamby with Reverend Robert Beckum officiating. Family will visit with friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
