Virginia Woodham Spencer, age 71, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice, Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 10 a.m. with Reverend Bud Rupel officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Spencer, daughter of the late John Franklin Woodham and Willie Mae Bull Woodham, was born July 10, 1938 in Midland City, AL. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God church and a homemaker. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by a sister, Ouida Woodham and a brother, Jim Woodham. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John J. Spencer, Jr of Columbus; two daughters, Shannon Bice and her husband Marcus of Fortson, GA and Jennifer Green and her husband Bubba, also of Fortson, GA; one son, John J. Spencer, III, and his wife Heather of Albany, GA; four sisters, Nell Brown of Smiths Station, AL, Elnor Black of Jefferson, IO, Thelma Garrett and her husband Bob of Scranton, PA, and Joni Merker of Columbus; two brothers, Bill Woodham and his wife Jean of Lakeland, FL, and Rex Woodham and his wife Debbie of Dothan, AL; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Ben, Jud, Will, Hunter, Juliana, Hailey, and Melody; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
