Tracey Patricia Cutler, loved and cherished daughter of Frank and Patricia Cutler, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019. Tracey “The Traveler” as she was sometimes called by her family was born in Montreal, Quebec on September 28, 1976. Later, she moved with her family to Burlington, Ontario, then to Winnipeg, Manitoba, back to Montreal, and lastly to Columbus, Georgia where she lived with her devoted Mum and Dad for 29 years.
Despite Tracey’s physical and intellectual challenges, Tracey lived a full life. Over the years, her favorite activities included swinging outside while always enjoying the sun, birds and airplanes. She enjoyed bowling, horseback riding and swimming in the pool for hours. Even though she used a wheelchair in her later years, she enjoyed moving herself around the house where she frequented the pantry for her favorite snacks such as Goldfish and potato chips. We always knew she was enjoying her snacks with her “mmmm” sounds! And we all know how much Tracey loved her cake and coffee! She was never shy to ask for them at breakfast, lunch and dinner!
For the past 25 years, Tracey attended Easter Seals West Georgia. She enjoyed the freedom of the halls, touring the outdoor track, the many community outings, the caring staff and the companionship of her fellow peers. It was at an Easter Seals fashion show fundraiser where she earned the infamous nickname of the “calm down girl!”
Through all of her years, Tracey always had an avid love for music. She loved songs either sung to her or played for her. Whether it be country, children’s classics such as her favorite artist, Raffi, or pop, she loved all music. Put on a good beat and Tracey was sure to sway and clap her hands! Tracey also loved to smile. Her smile radiated her entire being and the glow in her hazel eyes could touch your soul.
Tracey had a captivating spirit, a beautiful laugh, a contagious grin and a wicked bear hug! She was loved and cared for by not just her family but also by her dedicated, compassionate and loyal caregivers.
The one constant and unwavering love in her life, which stayed with her until her final breath, was the reciprocal love between her and her family. It is this love that gave Tracey the wings she needed to fly. Tracey is survived by her father and mother, Frank “Skipper” and Patricia “Trish” Cutler; sister and brother-in law, Selina and Bill Kirkland; sister and brother-in-law, Tara and Bill Clark; nieces and nephews: Tyler, Megan, Justin, Josie, James and Leah; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne Church (2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, GA 31907) at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.
The family has designated Easter Seals West Georgia for memorial donations.
