Born August 12, 1956 in Eufaula, Alabama, she was the daughter of Betty and Price Richards. She grew up in Eufaula and graduated from Eufaula High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Jacksonville State University and Masters and Specialist Degree from Columbus State University. She was an educator and subsequent system-wide new teacher mentor at both the Muscogee County School District and Columbus State University. She had an invaluable impact on thousands of students and teachers over the 30 plus years of her teaching and mentoring profession, as evidenced by her induction into the Columbus State University Education Hall of Fame.
Tina was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church in Columbus. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her husband and friends, reading, and spending time at the beach and lake.
Tina was preceded in death by her son, Richard Brent Jones. She is survived by her husband, Don Jones, of Columbus; daughters Brooke Devlin of Columbus and Kerrie Benson of Mobile, Alabama; Sister, Pat Davis of Eufaula; and grandchildren, Rock Benson, Colt Benson, Price Devlin, and Delaney Devlin. Funeral services will be held in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 2:00pm with burial to follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at Striffler-Hamby on Sunday, February 14th, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm.
