Thomas J. Chew

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Northside Christian Church, 9801 Whitesville Road, Fortson, GA 31808. A private family burial will follow according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Chew was born on September 22, 1943 in Okmulgee, OK to the late James Denton Chew and Thelma Brawdy Chew. He was a member of Northside Christian Church and was very active in church nurseries for more than 25 years. Mr. Chew was formerly employed by Davis Construction and Reese Construction for many years and later retired from the Muscogee County Public Library. Mr. Chew was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife Patricia “Patsy” of Columbus; daughter, Phoebe England and husband Charles; son, Tim Chew and wife Casie Harbin, all of Columbus; two grandchildren, Courtney England and Trevor England; and three sisters, Darlene Allen of Phenix City, Jackie Rearden of Seattle, WA, and Lora Stevens of Lewiston, ME.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northside Christian Church.
