Sue Bentley Mitchell, 69 of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully after a long battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. A private viewing will be held from 9:30am-10:30 am on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Striffler Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. A private graveside service will be starting at 11:00am in Park Hill Cemetery following the viewing.
Sue was born on October 26, 1950 in Columbus, GA, son of the late John W. Bentley and the late Helen Holton Bentley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Mitchell, and her brother, Jimmy Bentley. Sue loved the Lord and she was a pillar of faith to all who knew her. She was a past member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, GA and Lexington Presbyterian Church, Lexington, SC. She is currently a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, Alpharetta, GA. She was so dearly loved by all. Her love for her family showed as she was involved with her children’s and grandchildren’s daily activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Andee Mitchell Peterson, and son-in-law, Kevin Clarke Peterson of Cumming, GA and son, Matthew Brian Mitchell, and daughter-in-law, Kristen Mason Mitchell of Woodstock, GA. She has five beloved grandchildren: Abby Peterson (20), Kyle Peterson (18), Karlie Peterson (13), Sarah Mitchell (13), and Ashley Mitchell (12). She is survived by her brother, Mickey Bentley, and sister-in-law, Judy Bentley of Knoxville, TN.
