Addie Sue Goodson, age 91, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. A visitation of family and friends will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907; graveside services will begin at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Sue was born July 13, 1929, in Comer, Georgia, the daughter of mother, Emma Lou Graham, and father, Howard Graham. She grew up in the Comer area and graduated from Comer High School. Sue married the love of her life, William Goodson, in Atlanta in 1947.
Sue was an active member of Schomburg Rd. Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday School Class until her health wouldn’t allow her to attend. Sue loved to garden, she loved flowers and she loved to have the family over for the holidays, they were always special at her house. Sue was content in who she was, where she was in her life, and what she had. She lived a quiet and dignified life, grateful for the opportunities she had to share with others or help them when they were in need. She was the one we came to, to talk with and she would just listen. Her granddaughters cherished the times when Sue would come and love them, and help them when a newborn baby was brought home. She loved being able to rock the babies to sleep as she sung “Love Lifted Me” to them. She was such a blessing to them, they hated when she had to leave, much like the family feels now, but they know they will see her again. Sue was a wonderful example to all of us, she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother (Gee), and great grandmother. Her strength, her lessons, and her love will stay with us forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma Lou Graham and Howard Graham; her husband, William Goodson; and a sister, Hazel McCannon.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Phil) Little; son, Bill (Irene) Goodson; son, Glenn (Brenda) Goodson; grandchildren, Stephen Little, Susan (Drew) Evans, Clay (Kayte) Little, Katherine (Chris) Goodson, Kyle Goodson; great-grandchildren, Holly (Levi) Garrido, Pete (Maddie) Evans, Will Evans, Tara Little, Dagan Middleton, Daniel Goodson, Maddox Goodson, Hayes Goodson, Will Goodson, Aubrey Skinner; great-great-grandchildren, Izzy and Milo; a special niece, Eva Jane (Tim) Eagen; sisters, Catherine McCannon, Louise (Jack) Thomason; brother, Mike (Nancy) Graham and numerous friends of the family that will cherish her memory.
