Steven Douglas Anderson

A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Anderson’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 15, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia.

Mr. Anderson was born May 31, 1959 in Washington, DC, son of the late Louie D. and Miranda B. Anderson.

Mr. Anderson loved Classic Rock and Roll and loved playing the drums. He was an excellent artist and loved calligraphy. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. However, his love for sports was best shown as he was cheering on his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, period. Simply put, Mr. Anderson never met a stranger and loved life to the fullest.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Barbara Anderson; three children, Joseph Glenn McWaters, Shana Marie Butler and her husband, Lance and Christopher Shaun Anderson and his wife, Shontá; three grandchildren, Breanna Leininger, Jonathan Leininger and Kassidy Anderson; mother-in-law, Emily Riley; two brothers-in-law, Robert Riley and his wife, Meridith and Jimmy Riley and his wife, Lynn; one sister-in-law, Virginia Bearden and her husband, Roy; four great friends, Marianne Mullins, Janette Mullins, Steve Routier and Gisela Hill.
