Shirley Ann (Farmer) Carter, age 84 of Albany, GA, formerly from Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at home. Born January 2, 1939 in Waycross, GA, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Blanche (Anderson) Farmer.
Shirley was Methodist by faith and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cross stich and spending time in her yard with her beautiful flowers and plants. Her greatest pride and joy was her family and her beloved pets.
Survivors include her son, Thomas (Sharmane) Brassell of Albany, GA; her grandchildren, Libbie (Justin) Wilson of Albany, GA; her great-grandchildren, Arkman Thomas Wilson, Teller Brooks Wilson, Lila Ann Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Fred B. Carter.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, St. Elmo, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00PM. Rev. Glenn Martin will be officiating services. Family will visit with friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00PM to 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Shirley’s memory to the Harris County Humane Society, 3938 Barnes Mill Road, Hamilton, GA 31811.
