Shannon Griffing Osborne, age 83, resident of Upatoi, Georgia, died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House. Memorial service is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at Upatoi United Methodist Church at 11:00am. Dr. Richard Wright and Dr. Chip Grantham will be officiating.
Mrs. Osborne was born September 14, 1931 to William Theodore Griffing and Wendell Harper Griffing, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where she married John Osborne in 1951 and moved to Upatoi in 1974. She retired after 25 years as a teacher and school counselor from the Muscogee County School system. Mrs. Osborne has been an active member of Upatoi United Methodist for over 40 years, serving in many different areas such as the administrative council, worship chair, Sunday school teacher and membership care. Her church family meant the world to her and she will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include brother, Terry Griffing and wife Davie; sister-in-law, Beth Griffing; grandson, Dylan Osborne; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She had many wonderful friends including a very loyal friend, Janet Stubbs. Shannon was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John Osborne and two sons, Daniel and Steven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Upatoi United Methodist Church or Columbus Hospice.
