Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, GA on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Stanley was born to the late Thurman Wilburn Moody and Lena Thomas Moody on July 24, 1935 in Alton, IL. After turning 17, he bravely joined the United States Army and served for over 20 years until retirement in 1977. Following his military career, he again retired as a correctional officer from Jack T. Rutledge Correctional facility. Stan was a God fearing man and attended Edgewood Assembly of God in Columbus.
Spending time with his family was important to him; he was a calm and patient man that always instilled discipline and ethics. Stanley enjoyed Fox News, old comedy shows and spending time on the computer. His yard has many trees and flowers he planted before his illness. Stan also enjoyed date nights at Longhorn with his wife and cherished his dog, Sandee.
Besides his parents, his sister, Wilma Gaither and brother, Wilburn Moody who was killed in action during Vietnam preceded him in death. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marilyn Moody; son, Pete Moody and his wife, Lisha; grandchildren: Tori and Ridge Moody; brothers: Reverend John Moody and Reverend Jack Moody and sister, Linda Hollis along with nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends to cherish his loving memory.
