Sandra Valero Hernandez a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to heaven on May 31, 2021. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and especially loved her.
Sandra was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Geraldine Addie Valero and Frank Valero. She married the love of her life Jose Hernandez, Sr. and they made Columbus, Georgia home. After Sandra retired from AFLAC she and Jose moved to Florida in 2017 to begin their next adventure. She was working for Allstate at the time of her passing.
Sandra was one who never met a stranger, her spirit and love for others was one no one could compare. Sandra loved her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Columbus. Sandra loved traveling, shopping, and had a talent for beautifying all that she was involved with. She especially loved spending time with her family. Sandra is preceded in death by her loving mother, Geraldine Addie Valero.
She leaves her loving legacy to be cherished by her: loving husband, Jose Hernandez, Sr.; her children: Melissa (Ricardo) Portalatin, Daveena Hernandez (Dr. David Edwards) Edwards, Jose (Lindsey) Hernandez, and Matthew Hunt; her loving father, Frank Urban Valero; her brothers: Anthony (Becky) Valero, Johnny (Wanda) Valero, and Alejandro “Leo” Valero; her sister, Libby (David) Carver; her adored grandchildren: Felecia (Sam) Mathews, Brye (Hunter) Smith, Cayden Hernandez, Marisa Hernandez, and Chandler Hernandez; her very adored great grandchildren: Tanner Mathews, Addison Mathews, and Grayson Smith. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and other family members to cherish her loving memory.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Mill Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating.
