Roy "Butch" Leonard Beatty, age 68, of Fortson, Georgia passed away on Tuesday June 2, 2020. In keeping with efforts to assure the safety and health of our community during the current virus pandemic, a private celebration of Butches' life will be announced at a later date.
"Butch" was born February 28, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Mary Nell Scarborough and Roy Leonard Beatty, Sr. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Jordan Vocational High School. Butch retired from Georgia Power Company. He was selfless in his service to others. Butch was the caretaker of the family and his neighborhood. He loved to work outdoors. Butch set an example for his children of sacrifice and perseverance without excuses. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and when his granddaughter Hattie became ill, he spent endless hours rocking and caring for her. Butch was hardworking, honorable and without a doubt a good man.
"Butch" was preceded in death by his wife Debbie Webb Beatty; father Roy Leonard Beatty, Sr. and mother Mary Nell Scarborough; and granddaughter Hattie Campbell. He is survived by; Fiancé, Robin Doldan; daughters, Amy Dial (Curtis) and Mallory Campbell (Clint); son, Adam Beatty; grandchildren, Bryce Dial, Caroline Dial, Chloe Cameron and Liza Price; sister, Rhonda Noel; niece, Elise Toms; nephew Steve Locklar; other family members and many friends.
