Ron was born on September 1, 1945 in Columbus, GA. He was the son of G.L. Dacus and Alcie Patrick Dacus.
He will be remembered as a man who deeply loved people, his country and his community. And he served them all with great passion and honor.
From July 1963 to July 1967, Ron served in the US Army with a tour in Vietnam and Turkey. Flying brought him such joy, as he was a founder of the Civil Air Patrol in Columbus and private pilot for 48 years.
Ron had an equally paralleled gift for music and as a self taught musician, led music at his church and his band, Ron Dacus and the Bluelights, for decades.
His love for business brought decades of success as the owner of Stone Furniture and other companies but his greatest achievement is the legacy of great faith and love for others he leaves behind.
He will live on in memory as an adoring husband, Daddy and Pawpaw, loyal friend and devoted member of Altman Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and one great granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; children, Ronnie (Ann) Dacus, Eva (Stacy) Gilliland, Mickey Dacus Blaubaugh, Jimmy (Kelly) Hunt, Larry (Angela) Hunt, and Haley Meeks; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; siblings, Milton Dacus, Colin (Gail) Dacus; special friends Marianne Stevens and Margie Cooner Waller as well as a host of cousins, friends and family.
The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with the funeral starting at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the chapel at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Macon Road, with Reverend Jack Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
