Robert H. Talbert, 85, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856 with full military honors presented.
Robert was born on November 27, 1939, to Cordie and William Talbert in Mooresville, North Carolina where he was raised and started his job working on pit crews for early NASCAR drivers. He served our country proudly for 27 years while doing 2 tours in Vietnam, 1 in Korea and 4 in Germany. He retired as 1st Sergeant. Robert loved golfing, travelling and his family, especially his wife of 62 years.
He is survived by his wife, Else Talbert; his daughters, Stephanie McCloskey (Robert) and Sandra Phillips (Ron); his grandchildren, Matthew McCloskey, Carson Turner, and Ashley McCloskey; and his great grandchildren, Wynn Turner. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Morris Talbert and Cordie L. Wilson; his sisters, Doris Thompson and Faye Carol Talbert (his twin); and his brother, Jerry Talbert.
