Robert Q. Oakes, age 85, of Cataula, Georgia passed away on Monday October 22, 2018. Robert was born July 9, 1933 in Troy, Alabama to his late parents Pearline Williams Oakes and Douglas Oakes. Robert grew up during the depression and learned the value of hard work. He was a self- taught man that excelled at Insurance sales with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of GA. Robert loved to work and meet new people. He loved his family, his pets, old westerns and cooking. Robert will always be remembered as a fair and honest people person. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Other than his parents, Robert was preceded in death by; brothers Eunice Oakes and Virgil F Oakes. He is survived by; his beloved wife, Ginger Oakes; sons Dennis Ray Oakes (Tammy), Steven Quay Oakes (Kandi); daughter Stacey Michele Reinersmann (Brian); grandchildren Sabrina Renee Lore, Joshua Alan Oakes, and Logan Quay Reinersmann, great grandchildren Preston Alan Oakes, Abagail Nicole Coley, and Charlette Grace Oakes; special nephew Doug Oakes, nieces, other family members, pets Angel and Aubie, and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends for Robert will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Celebration of Robert's Life will occur Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at Striffler-Hamby’s Edgewood Hall, followed by a committal service, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:30 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907, with Reverend Danny Courtney officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Benjamin Gatlin, Joseph Gatlin, Ricky Stapler, Blake Beasley, Troy Reed and Rob Harris.
