Robert “Bob” Leslie Huff, age 87, resident of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family. Funeral services are scheduled on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 3:00pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31907, with Dr. Frank Parr officiating. The family will receive friends in Edgewood Hall Wednesday evening, May 25, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm.
Mr. Huff, son of the late Esther Mae Bell Huff and Charles Cleburne Huff, was born December 22, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1947 before entering Berry College, where he met the love of his life, Genie. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Berry in May of 1951. After graduating, Mr. Huff served our country honorably in the U.S. Air Force for three years. He received his Master of Religious Education Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in May of 1956 and became a Minister of Education for many churches including Hillcrest Baptist Church of Columbus in 1966. Mr. Huff went on to Instruct at Columbus Technical College and retired in 1991. A lover of music, he played many instruments and was a member of the Bob Barr Community Band for many years. Mr. Huff was a member at Wynnton United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ida Eugenia “Genie” Huff; daughters, Gloria Garrett (Rob), Leslie Corn (John), Julia Taylor, Patti Pass (Craig); grandchildren, Ryan Garrett (Katie), Caroline Wiggins (Randy), Leslie Olguin (David), John Taylor, Jo Jo Taylor, Ben Corn, Madison Pass, Amelia Pass, Jackson Pass; and many loving friends and other relatives.
