Robert Stanley Green “Bob”, age 91 of Columbus, GA, passed away on March 25, 2023. A visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 1:00 until 1:50 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Pastor Jared Owen will officiate the services, Bob will be buried next to his mother, Annie Leona Green Sellars and his step-father MSGT James Henry Sellars in Parkhill Cemetery.
Bob was born July 7, 1931 at Fort Benning, GA Post Hospital to Sgt Henry Green and Annie Leona Thornton Green. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Sgt. Henry Green, his mother, Annie Leona Green Sellars and his step-father MSGT James Henry Sellars, oldest brother Henry “Buck”, his son Robert and two infant brothers Albert and Paul.
Bob is survived by his brother CMSgt James E. Green of Boonville, Missouri, sister, Dorothy Ann Kemp of Columbus, GA and many nieces and nephews.
Bob attended Baker High School and was among the first students to Attend Baker High, he also played Varsity Basketball. Bob was a butcher at Food Giant for 33 years and the market manager for 27 of those years. After retiring Bob played Senior Softball for 20 years and had to give up playing due to a shoulder injury. Wanting to stay involved with the team and game he loved, Bob became the scorekeeper for the senior teams.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
