I am so very sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. My family and I knew Richard and his family from attending Calvary Baptist Church and me attending JVHS. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through the coming weeks and months. 

Richard was a dear friend and hunting buddy for 50 years...a friend who was like family. We had many fun times at the hunting lodge and lots of good steaks and fish fries! Praying for his precious wife, Martha, and all his sweet family. He will be greatly missed.

There’s nothing better than a good neighbor. Richard wasn’t that, he was a great neighbor! Many fond memories in the neighborhood. Great man to talk to  and he had a super yard that he loved to take care of. Most of all a great family man. To the family we love y’all and he will be missed up here on the mountain. 

So sorry to hear about Richard’s death. I was David’s best friend at Calvary Baptist and knew Richard at Calvary and JVHS. Friends on Facebook and did not know of his cancer. We talked back and forth on FB.
     My prayers for Martha and the girls and family. May God give you His pea ce and comfort.

So sad to learn of Richard's passing.  Such a sweet, kind & considerate person.  Even as far back as high school, I can remember what a good person he was, seems like he was always smiling & never said a bad word about anyone.  He will be missed, but always loved by anyone who knew him.

Dear Jennifer,
So very sorry for your lost and will keep you and your family in my prayers. I had the privilege and honor of working with your dad.  Such a fine gentleman who welcomed me to the Piedmont Office. I remember when we were having dinner at a restaurant one night and Donna and I walked over to your parents table to say hello. Your dad stood up to say hello to Donna as a true Southern Gentleman should. She was so impressed. He maybe gone but never forgotten and always in our hearts.

Richard, David and I grew up together on Spring Circle in Columbus. He and I went to Johnson School together, and fought bullies together at the bicycle rack. His family had the first TV in the neighborhood and we used to watch it, when the folks would let us in the house. We roamed the neighborhood and walked the railroad tracks down to the woods beyond the trestle to shoot airrifles and generally terrorize the birds, squirrels and rabbits. That area is now nursing homes and a shopping center.  Richard was the only one of two people at our last H.S. reunion(25?) who looked exactly as he did in 1962. He was/is loved in my memories. Martha, Jennifer, Kristy, and families,
It was my privilege to know and work with Richard ever since he was in the Division Office in Columbus. In thinking of Richard, the word gentleman was the first thing that came to mind. He always spoke to Cindy at GPC functions and was interested in what was going on with our kids. He came through the last few years with a determination not often seen these days.

He was a focused and dedicated worker who was usually the first to arrive at the office when storms and trouble caused people to be without power. I will always be grateful for his help, as he would drop whatever he was doing to answer a question or lend a hand.

I am thankful to have known him and pray that you will find peace, and in the coming days as you remember Richard, joy will return in full measure.

I was terribly saddened to learn of Richard's passing.  Please know that your family will be in my thoughts and prayers each day during this difficult time for you. I was truly saddened to hear the news of Richard's passing. I remember him and ya'll quite a bit and cherish the memories of playing softball with him and enjoying his friendship.

I am so sorry to learn of Richards passing.  Richard and I have known each other since our first days at Jordan.  We shared many mutual experiences that will rest in my heart for the remainder of my life.
