Rebecca Hardman Jones

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 3, 2012 in Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Dr. Kevin Calhoun and Rev. John Burnett will officiate with a private interment in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born May 15, 1919 in Columbus, Ga the daughter of the late Roy Hardman and the late Lorene Crantford Hardman. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus.

Mrs. Jones began her career as a secretary to Norman Illges of Archer & Shannon Hosiery Mills and later was employed as a medical secretary to Dr. John B. Thompson. She retired after 28 years as medical secretary to Dr. Philip L. Brewer.

Mrs. Jones was an active member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church, the Agape Sunday School Class, a member of Columbus Business & Professional Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Hugh Ross Jones and a brother, Roy Elmo Hardman, Jr.

She is survived by a son, Hugh Ronald Jones and his wife, Linda; two grandsons, Ross Ronald Jones and his wife, Barbara, and Todd Lambert Jones and his wife, Cherie; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Crystal, and Rebecca Jones; one great-great-grandson, Brexton Jones.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live in our hearts forever and ever.
