Raymond E. Plaisted Jr., born November 23rd 1924 in Pittsburg Pennsylvania and passed away peacefully on August 26th 2014 after an extended illness. He was being cared for at a skilled nursing facility in Gainesville Georgia.
Services will be held honoring both Raymond and Ann at 2:00 Tuesday, September 9th 2014 at Living Grace UMC 3969 Edgewood Circle Columbus Georgia. Visitation with friends and family will take place at 1:00 prior to the 2:00 services. They will be buried side by side at Parkhill Cemetery immediately following the services with military honors and Freedom Riders participating.
Raymond retired November 1st 1967, E8 Master Sgt. after 20 years of active duty Army Airborne. He was then employed by the Muscogee County School District as a JROTC instructor from 1968-1990. Then he continued to teach as a substitute teacher for the school system from 1992-2010. He was a Scottish Rite Mason to the 32nd degree. He was an active member of Living Grace UMC, by teaching Sunday School and serving in other various capacities.
Raymond was survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann Plaisted, his grandchildren: Kimberly Plaisted Parker, Alan Scott Plaisted (from Gainesville Georgia) and Brandon Plaisted and Blake Plaisted (from Columbus Georgia); and 5 great grandchildren; and niece Patsy Doolittle Hanner.
Raymond was predeceased by his two sons: Alan E. Plaisted (2009) and Robert Keith Plaisted (2000).
