Raymond Hughley, 71, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 in his home, surrounded by family and friends. Graveside services at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery will be Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 am EST with Pastor Kuturi Edwards officiating.
Raymond was born February 26, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia to Gloria LaVern Hughley and Forrest Hughley. Raymond's life-long mission was, sharing his: love, time and wisdom to anyone willing to receive. Raymond retired from Georgia Power, Co. after a 44 year-long career as an Electrical Engineer. Being an athletic enthusiast, he felt his greatest being in the gym (YMAC); a place where he was able to work out some of his life's toughest questions. The questions he could not find answers to, he brought to his Pastor, Mr. Kutori Edwards and his church, where Raymond was a founding member and distinguished contributor. He proudly volunteered to serve in Vietnam with the U.S. Army at the age of 18. Raymond was the oldest of five children.
He was proceeded in death by his Father and Mother, Forrest and Gloria Hughley. Survivors include: his wife, Michelle Hughley; his brothers and sister, Randall, Ronald, Reginald and Gloria Hughley; 10 children, April Marshall, Jessica Hughley, Kelley Harris, Ebony Marshall, Raymond Hughley Jr., Halle Smith, Raymond Thomas, Regina Rick, Ashley Bunkley, Jewel Wyatt; and 21 Grandchildren, and two Great-grandchildren.
