Randolph Thomas Knight, Sr., age 61, resident of Athens, AL and former resident of Columbus and Albany, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, 3 p.m. with Reverend Mike O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. Mr. Knight, son of the late Robert Barto Knight, Sr and Kittie Louise Burks, was born February 19, 1949 in Donalsonville, GA. He was a farmer, committed to his work, and was the “hardest worker you’ve ever seen.” Mr. Knight was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Glen Vincent. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ethel M. Knight of Athens, AL; three daughters, Felicia Ann Shrevers and her husband Absalom of Phenix City, AL, Jeannie Sanes of Madison, AL, Sharon Cortes and her husband Juan of Athens, AL; five sons, James David Bell of Davisboro, GA, Tony Gilbert of Oceola, IO, Randolph Thomas Knight Jr of Athens, AL, Thomas Lee Knight and his wife Sarah of Arlington, GA, and Thomas Randolph Knight and his wife Angela of Athen, AL; one brother, Bobby Knight and his wife Tammy of Albany, GA; 23 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
