Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Frank Patterson officiating according to Striffler – Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. Burial will follow at a later date in East Haddam, Connecticut. Following the service at Holy Family Catholic Church the family will host a reception at Striffler – Hamby Mortuary.
Mr. King was born February 21, 1933 in Springfield, MA the son of the late Peter Joseph King and the late Beatrice Moreau King. Mr. King lived in East Haddam, Connecticut with his two daughters where he met his wife Joanne. He and Mrs. King moved to Georgia when he was promoted to Manager of Quality Assurance for Pratt & Whitney and he retired after 33 years of service at Pratt in 1995. He was a member of the Columbus community for the past twenty five years.
Mr. King was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Holy Family Catholic Church, had been a member of the Lions Club and he had served as the Vice Chairman of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives). He was also an avid golfer and was a member of Bull Creek Golf Course. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Clifford Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne C. King; two daughters, Diana Faith King and Suzanne Collins Prior and her son, Christopher Joseph Balfore; three step-children, Gary Williams, David Williams, and Karen Langevin; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; along with many friends.
