Mr. Adams was born February 8, 1935 in Columbus, Ga., the son of George Mortimer Adams and Lillie Belle Kimbrough Adams. He attended Nankipooh School, Wynnton Elementary, Columbus High School and graduated from Auburn University in 1957 with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. While at Auburn, Mr. Adams played tennis; he was a four-year letterman and played #1 singles in his Junior and Senior Years. He served in the US Army after college and shortly thereafter began a 60-year career as a financial advisor. He was well-known for his annual stock prognostication at the Rotary Club of Columbus and for many years was a co-host of an investment talk radio show with his business partner Malon Wickham; he spent nearly as much air- time telling jokes as he did picking stocks.

He was a faithful supporter of many other local organizations, including PAWS Humane, the Ronald McDonald House, St. Luke UMC and Brookstone School.
Mr. Adams, called “GDah” by his grandchildren, is remembered by his family as loving, generous and quick-witted. He regularly attended his children’s and grandchildren’s events and enjoyed taking everyone on annual beach vacations. He was especially interested in genealogy and the early history of the Chattahoochee Valley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Sally Hutchinson Adams, his children Emily Adams Blalock (Jim), Lela Adams Campbell (Brian), and Philip Monroe Adams, Jr. (Jenny), nine grandchildren, his siblings George Mortimer Adams, Jr., Thomas Edwin Adams, Charlotte Adams Clark, and William Weems Adams, and several nieces and nephews.
