It still feels so surreal that you are not here with me. It’s been two years since we last talked, texted, laughed & loved. I miss you so deeply it leaves me empty. Our last words to each other like normal was “Love You” , I’m so glad we had that chance to say so. It remains in my mind hearing “Love you Lul”…..Think of you everyday and life will never be the same for me now you have left. I love you so much Paul William Starnes! You were the best brother any sister could have wished for and I’m so glad you are mine. Xxxxx

To Paul's family-
While this anniversary is a painful reminder of his dying way too early, I cannot help but also remember the absolute JOY that your Paul brought to this world!  What a character!  Irreverent, thoughtful, funny, inquisitive.  What a guy.  It pains me to know that I just can't go over to his shop and hear him drum on about some crazy event or upcoming plans for a trip back home to the UK.  
He will always be one of my favorite memories about people that I have known in my life.

Dear Paul’s family,

Tomorrow will mark a year since we lost the presence of your beloved Paul. I have often thought about him this year and feel sorry for myself each time. I wish I could just stop by the shop and he’d be there behind the chair with a huge smile and something off-color to say. He loved a story- the crazier the better. What a wonderful social mixing pot he made his chair. I met many that were new and many that were old friends. I can still hear his voice. I hope one day to sit down in his presence, fix us a powerful G&T, and laugh about life. 
God bless you for bringing Paul to us.

Paul was such an amazing man. So nice, genuine, and caring man. Thank you for watching my kids grow up and always talking so they could hear your accent that they loved so much. Omg, I just found out about Paul. He did my hair for years til I moved out of state. This is so unreal.  I will miss him dearly, he was the kindest person.

Paul, buddy you will be truly missed, he made me laugh all the time when I seen him, and I in return made him laugh. We met at Jersey Mikes and he instantly fell in love with my customer service he would come every week to get a sandwich. Man, this really hurts. Until we meet again. Love you mate.

Paul always made me smile and laugh. A couple of months ago,  I saw him at the gas station and we talked .  He drove  off , I was still there and a few minutes later he was  back and said “Cind, talking with you, made my day”. I just wanted to tell you .
Actually, he made my day. I am glad that I text him, a little later that day and told him so, 
Rest In Peace, my friend.  You are already missed.

I have so many wonderful memories of Paul.  I’ve been one of his clients since 2003 and thankfully we became close friends!  My first hair visit was full of laughter as he popped the other hair dressers with wet towels.  I knew then that he was my kind of entertainment and my hair looked fabulous!  Our friendship continued to grow. I ran into him in Publix one day. He was pushing his elderly client’s grocery cart and told me that he helped her with groceries every week. I think her name was Ms. Dorothy. I don’t quite remember. He would visit Retirement Homes to give free hair cuts.  He established a fundraiser for a little boy named Jasper.  He didn’t know the family but he felt compelled to help as they couldn’t afford the medical care needed.   He visited my mother in Hospice  and made her giggle.   I’m honored to have sat in his chair every 8 weeks.   We shared many stories and most of all we shared each other’s wisdom that comes with age. Every time I left his salon I felt uplifted because of his extraordinary exuberant personality.  He was always full of compliments.  One of our funniest memories happened on Lake Harding. He had been out boating with us and our boat motor let us down. As our boat was floating towards the bank, he jumped into the water to push.  The water was clear and I could see his face straining under water during the push. Thankfully he was tall and could touch bottom.   We’ve had some good laughs about that day.  He loved my family and I love his.   As we grieve let’s try to love hard as he did.    Until we re-unite in heaven one day dear friend you’ll forever be in my heart.  

We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Paul's passing.  Paul was quite a beautiful person and friend that we'll never forget.   Particularly, the time he took to make sure that he told the girls stories about their mother getting her hair styled at UnKommen years ago.  Thank you, Paul.  

Undoubtedly, the best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.  

If you knew Paul Starnes, you knew a tall English man with a great laugh and a heart too big for this world.  

This big-hearted, gorgeous English mate was loved and adored because he loved and adored all of us. For one last time, we will say, “Cheers to you mate” at funeral services for Paul this Friday, July 29th at 2pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (2100 Hilton Avenue). 

To honor his generous heart and with Paul’s great love for dogs, the family has requested that remembrances or memorials be made to PAWS humane. 4900 Milgen Road, Columbus, GA 31907 (www.pawshumane.org). As Paul was very protective of all the people he loved, and due to the rising Covid rate, everyone is strongly encouraged to wear a mask. 


My husband and I met Paul a little over 10 years ago. They quickly became the best of friends. I cannot even begin to express the generosity and love this man had for others. He paid for my husband’s trip to England so he could see where he grew up. That was a trip of a lifetime for my husband and memories he will always cherish spending time with Paul and his family.
 His love for others was enormous and when he walked in a room the whole room would light up with his smile. We are truly heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend.
 Our love and prayers go out to his loving family Bill, Barbara, Mark, Georgina, Ethan and his twin brother Graham and wonderful niece Abi. He loved you all so much and was so proud of all of you. His memories will live on forever in our hearts. 
He is in God’s hands now. Rest in Peace dear sweet friend.

Paul, time spent in your chair was just lightness and happiness, you gave so much.  This earth will not be the same without you but we have, through you, an amazing example of a lovely human and we should try to emulate your dear ways. 

Paul never failed to show his love to the people in his life. He was your biggest cheerleader and your biggest fan, no matter what. I’ll sorely miss that laugh and smile of his. 

I often referred to Paul as a "Gentle Giant".  He was a wonderful, caring, and generous man that always made me feel special as I know he did everyone that he befriended.  He has been doing my hair for almost 12 years.  I never walked into his salon that he didn't have a big hug for me.  When I was finished, he would walk me to my car, open my door, hand me my purse and the seat belt, say, "I love you to pieces", and close my car door.  My last memory of him was him standing at the salon's back door and waving to me as I pulled out.  He saw me through many sad times and many happy times and was always there for me.  I miss him and I will always miss him.  My condolences to his family.  May God give you the strength to get through the next chapter in your lives without your precious Paul.  I know he is watching down on all of you from heaven.  God Speed!

Paul was a wonderful and caring man.  My heart broke when I heard the news.  Paul was a good friend, and I will truly miss him.  My sincerest condolences to Paul's family - you are in my thoughts and prayers.  

Paul was my dearest friend, and we have shared a loving and loyal friendship for almost fifteen years. Through Paul, I met and became a part of his wonderful family. We celebrated Christmas and New Year’s in England in 2013.  Paul bought me a business class ticket for my Christmas gift.  It was the trip of a lifetime, and I cherish each memory of our time together. Celebrating Christmas Eve midnight service at Ely Cathedral is a treasure that I have tucked away in my heart.  He was caring, loving, supportive, and generous to everyone, and it made no difference if he knew you or not.  Paul was there for me during times of great joy, as well as deep grief and sadness.  He has blessed my life throughout our friendship, and I will never again have a friend that is so special and unconditionally loved and admired.  God has now added another sweet angel to Heaven.  I will miss you always, and remember you daily with love and gratitude.  May you rest eternally in our Lord and Savior’s comforting arms.  We will see each other again. Paul was a caring, generous and selflessness person.  He was there for Dave and me when my dad was in hospice.  He visited everyday as well as Georgina.  I will never forget that act of kindness and how it helped us through such a painful time.   May you rest in peace Paul in God's eternal light and love.

Paul not only touched many lives he immersed himself in our lives.   He was more than generous, kind hearted, loving and larger than life.   My favorite memory is when he showed up to our sons 4th birthday at MyGym / completely joyous  with all the chaos of 20+ toddlers!  I love this picture of him and Zack - Paul Starnes loved BIG and I am thankful for him loving my people, especially my momma!  You will be missed here but surely you were welcomed with open arms into the Kingdom!
