Patricia was born in Saint Clair County, Michigan on October 22, 1937, to the late Howard and Gerardine Welch. Patricia was predeceased by her sister, Sondra Webb and her granddaughter, Emily Robinson.
She attended Georgia State College for Women and was a caseworker in Columbus for The Department of Family and Children's Services. After her children were born, she was a homemaker and a pillar in the family business for many years. She also volunteered with numerous charitable organizations. Patricia loved painting, cooking, and was a master gardener. She had a quick wit, loved a good book and was a practical joker. She enjoyed watching British mysteries, playing card games, and researching family genealogy. She was adored by her grandchildren who called her "Grandi".
Patricia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Haines J. Layfield, Sr., her children: Karen Robinson (Greg), Jonathan Layfield (Laura), and Danny Layfield; her grandchildren: Hogan and Hannah Grace Robinson, Jack and Gray Layfield, Trey, Jordan, and Mason Layfield, and Madison Layfield Bryan (Josh).
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Preferred Hospice for their devoted care.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
