Nell Cumbaa Smith

Nell Louise Cumbaa Smith was born in Columbus, GA, on April 22, 1923. Her parents were Louise Herndon Cumbaa and Charles Doster Cumbaa. She married John Smith on January 18, 1942 and together they raised three children. Nell lived a happy, long and full life, devoted to her family and church. She often expressed how blessed she was and how full her life was. Wherever she went and whoever she met she left a footprint of kindness and love, courage and compassion, humor and inspiration, joy and faith.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband John, son Michael, her parents and six siblings and their spouses. Jeanette(Archie) Rhodes, Charles (Liz) Cumbaa, Cordelia(Scott) McGarrah, Frank(Helen) Cumbaa, Jack(Lillian) Cumbaa, Carolyn((Frank) Floyd, and many beloved nieces and nephews all who were so special to her and remembered fondly.

Nell is survived by her daughter Becky and son in law Robert Curry of Dover, DE, her son David and daughter in law Kathy Smith of Smith Station, AL, and daughter in law Marcia Smith of Eudora, KS. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Brooke(Andy) McGrath, Matt(Abby)Curry, Lindsey(Jason) Hoover, Corey Marchetti and six great grandchildren, Delaney and Ian McGrath, Payton and Colby Hoover, Michael and Matthew Marchetti, and many nieces and nephews. Each and everyone brought her the greatest joy and so much happiness.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 11:00 am at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus GA.
