Nancy was born in Columbus, GA on September 17, 1948, the daughter of Richard Connelly Pruitt and Margaret Dudley Pruitt.
She attended Wynnton School and Columbus High School, then earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Georgia, followed by a Master’s degree from Auburn University. After briefly teaching elementary school, she returned to the University of Georgia and earned a Doctor of Education degree in Social Science Education, where she was a published author and a member of several professional and honorary societies.
Nancy taught at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and Troy University in Phenix City. She was widely-traveled and enjoyed sharing her experiences with her students. She was interested in painting, birding, and opera. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke Methodist Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband Clyde William Davis, Jr of Columbus; sister, Caroline Pruitt Conner (Royce) of Montgomery, Alabama; stepdaughter, Lauren Woodall Davis of Lebanon, Tennessee; niece Margaret Hefner (Eric) of Macon,Georgia; two nephews, David Conner (Tina), and Richard Conner (Ashley), all of Montgomery; several cousins and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers , the family requests that memorials be in Nancy Pruitt Davis’ memory to PAWS, Wounded Warriors or a charity of your choice.
