Molly attended local schools and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1973 with a B.S. in Education. After graduating, Molly returned to Columbus where she was employed by AFLAC, eventually filling the role of Assistant Administrator of the Claims Department.
Her heart’s desire, however, was to be a wife, mother, and homemaker, and she was given that opportunity when she and Claude married in 1979. Their family grew with the birth of two sons, who were the joy and delight of her life. Molly was a devout follower of Christ and a member of Church of the Highlands. She loved studying the Bible, led numerous Bible studies through the years, and was active in her church and at the boys’ school, Brookstone School. Molly loved spending time at the beach, boating, traveling with family and friends, and reading. She especially loved spending time with her six grandchildren, whom she loved with a fierce and special kind of love. Molly also served on numerous (community)boards throughout the years in the hopes of making Columbus a better place to live. She was a longtime proponent of healthy relationships and strong marriages and most recently fought for that through her involvement with Right from the Start.
Molly is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 43 years, Claude Gordy Scarbrough, III. She is also survived by her sons, Claude Gordy Scarbrough IV and his wife Allison, and William Morgan Scarbrough and his wife, Jana; six grandchildren: Ella-Kate Paige Scarbrough, Claude Gordy Scarbrough V, Lela Mae Scarbrough, Harry Morgan Scarbrough, William Nolen Scarbrough, and Winn Benning Scarbrough. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Blount and her husband W.Frank Blount of Atlanta, Ga, her sister in law Minnie Scarbrough Cappel and her husband Ed Cappel of Houston, Texas, and brother in law Bill Scarbrough and his wife Karol of Columbus, Ga. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and lots of very special, loving friends.
Molly was predeceased by her parents Mary Eleanor Baisch Morgan and her father Harry Lee Morgan.
