Minnie L. Davenport

Minnie L. “Penny” Davenport passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 93. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.

Penny was born in Coweta County, Georgia to the late Lorene Woddard Phillips and Grady Phillips. She grew up during the Great Depression Era where you learned the value of family, good work ethics, and being grateful for what you had. She instilled these values in her children and grandchildren. Penny was married to the late Paul “Jack” Davenport. She was an avid reader, loved to tend her flowers in her yard, and cook for her loving family. Penny was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, daughter, Mary Helen “Jackie” Davenport, son-in-law Buddy M. Allgood; sister, Eula Mae “Bonnie” Hatchett.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Allgood; her son, Phillip Davenport (Melanie); ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery.
