Mildred Holmes Voorhees Ellsworth, age 91, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Ellsworth was born the daughter of the late Walter R. Holmes and Ida Mae Fields- Holmes on October 24, 1927 in Columbus, GA. She attended Jordan High School.
In 1963, the Voorhees family opened the locally famous, Ranger Joe’s military supply store. She always put God before all things and made the effort to serve other people selflessly. Mrs. Ellsworth was a dedicated member to Evangel Temple and always loved and cherished her family and friends.
Mrs. Ellsworth leaves behind her son and his wife, Paul and Janice Voorhees of Columbus, GA; one granddaughter, Victoria Voorhees-Condrey of Dawsonville, GA; two great grandchildren, Brittany McCabe and John-Paul McCabe; one great-great grandchild, Luca Diamante; two sisters, Martha Taylor and Sue Overby, both of Columbus, GA. She also leaves behind a host of other extended relatives and friends to cherish her loving memory.
