CSM (Ret) Michel Bernard Genot, 91, of Cataula, Georgia passed away on September 9, 2023. He was born in Pont-a-Mousson, France to the late Pauline Chalon Genot and Hippolyte Genot. Michel faithfully served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War retiring as a Command Sergeant Major with 30 years of service. He was married to Frances Xavier Taylor and together they called the Columbus area home after his retirement from civil service at Fort Benning. Michel loved his family and he enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife after retirement. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances and his parents Pauline and Hippolyte Genot.
Michel leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his children: Helen Genot Kingrey, Margaret Anne (Joel) Tyson, and Michael Bernard Genot; his grandchildren and other family members.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday September 13, 2023 in the St. Elmo Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31907. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Burial will be at 1:30 PM in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama with Military Honors.
