Michael Chapman, age 65, of Midland, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024. A visitation for the family and friends for Michael will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Following the visitation a graveside service will begin at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Michael was born in Florence, Alabama on October 11, 1958; the son of CPT (ret) Bobby C. Chapman and Eddie “Joyce” Chapman. Shortly after high school, Michael joined the U.S. Navy, at separation he was a Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was in the banking business for years; he retired as a Senior Data Base Administrator. He enjoyed music, particularly Rock and Roll and Country music. He was an avid fan of Alabama Football. He loved his family and cherished the time they spent together, including Harley, his sweet little dachshund, who was always by his side.
Michael is preceded in death by: his father, CPT (ret) Bobby C. Chapman, and his sister. Vicki Gregory.
Michael is survived by: his wife, Kimberly Chapman; mother, Joyce Chapman; brothers, David (Naizah) Chapman, Gregory Chapman, Stephen Chapman; daughter, Eva Marie; grandchildren, Skyler, Jadi Grace, Presley; great grandchildren, Westyn Lee, Brother-in-law, Bobby Gregory; sister-in-law, Kelly (Michael) Jackson; niece, Lindsey, her daughter, Sloan; nephew, Hunter Poe; aunt, Linda Wilcher; other family members and numerous close friends, which will cherish his memories.
