Melinda A. Jones, age 59, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023. A visitation for the family and friends of Melinda will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.
Melinda was born May 9, 1964, in Phenix City, Alabama; the daughter of Joe Ed Burch and Elizabeth Diane Beebe. She was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. Melinda married Kenneth G. Jones on April 15, 1982 in Columbus, GA. They made Columbus their home and had three sons. Melinda enjoyed being involved and helping others. She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics, youth bowling programs, and numerous V.F.W. fundraisers. Melinda loved being a mother, she was always right there supporting her sons. Whether in their schools or as a team mom with their various youth sports teams she was involved for a span of 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Jones; her children, Joseph (Jessica) Jones, Derrick (Toni) Jones, Kevin (Lou) Jones-Rodriguez; her grandchildren, McKenzie, Parker, Joshua, Jacob, Kylee and Emilia Jones; and her loving dog Angel. Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Joe Ed Burch; her mother, Elizabeth Diane Beebe; her brother, Joseph Burch; and her sister, Theresa Burch.
