Melba Jean Peterson

Melba Jean Peterson, age 84, resident of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Saturday, November 25, 2017, 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Peterson, daughter of the late Harvey Jordan Moore and Susie Texas Gunnels Moore, was born February 23, 1933 in Richland, Georgia. She was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Peterson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Leeman Keith "Pete" Peterson of Columbus; one daughter, Bonnie Green and her husband Gary of Cataula, Georgia; two sons, Dennis Peterson and his wife Jill of Cataula, Georgia and Larry Peterson and his wife Betsy of West Point, Georgia; one sister, Joyce Moore of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Wayne Peterson and his wife Jodie, Lee Peterson and his wife Mandy, Holly Morris and her husband Jon, and Rachel Bigbie and her husband Patrick; other relatives and friends.
