Phenix City, Alabama- Mary Irene Sturdivant Freeman, age 87, resident of Phenix City, AL., passed away on March 1, 2011 at Vista Care Hospice of Franciscan Woods, Columbus.
Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Friday, March 4, 2011, 3 p.m. with Rev. Steven Gregg, Rev. Charles Langford, and Rev. Tom Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Akron, OH to the late Lewis and Inez Clark Sturdivant. She was retired from Woodruff - Brown Realty, where she faithfully worked for over 20 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Doctor's Hospital. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Freeman.
She is survived by her brother, Lewis "Bud" Sturdivant and his wife Tanya of Pine Mountain, GA; niece, Carla M. Clements of Conyers, GA; nephew, Clark C. Sturdivant and his wife Kathy of Ripley, MS; grandnephew, Colton L. Clements of Conyers, GA; devoted friend, Greg Weatherford of Conyers, GA; and caretaker, Eliza Metlon.
