Mary was born May 5, 1954 in Columbus, GA the daughter of Roy J. and Virginia Young Browder. She was the third of six daughters. Mary attended Rigdon Road and Clubview Elementary Schools. Mary attended Mercer College and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority.
Returning to Columbus, she married Kevin M. Harcourt in 1983 and together, they had three children: William, John and Franklin. The boys were the highlight of her life! Mary was later employed by the Columbus Steeplechase and then Chancellor’s Mens Clothing Store. Mary was a very smart and talented person. She was very dedicated to her family and her many friends. She never said “no” to anyone. She was always there to help, no matter the task, but especially if it was a wedding! Mary was an excellent calligrapher. Having grown up in a family of six girls, Mary was excited to have a house full of boys (sometimes). She finally got two girls (daughter-in-laws). She was ecstatic about that!
