She was born in Coffee County Alabama to the late Henry Ellis and Barbara Adkins. In November of 1950, she met Don Davis of Ino Alabama. The couple was married on March 17, 1951. In 1956, Tommie and Don moved to Columbus, Georgia. Tommie worked for 28 years at Bibb Manufacturing Company’s Columbus Mill.
Tommie enjoyed sewing and traveling. Together with her husband, Don, she traveled to approximately 44 states, and several countries including Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Tommie was gregarious on these trips and made friends easily.
Tommie was an active member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don Davis, and her 3 children and their spouses: Larry Davis (Faye), Patricia Singletary (Garrie), and Rachel Rodgers (Edward). She is survived by one brother and three sisters. She is also survived by her “babies”, which include 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for the family will be held at Striffler-Hamby in Columbus, Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Tuesday afternoon at 1 PM. Donations will be accepted in her memory to Columbus Hospice.
