Mary “Cookie” Holley Bagley, age 82, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at her home. Born December 4, 1941, in Leeds, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Odie Regionald and Margaret (Edwards) Holley.
Cookie graduated from Columbus High School. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA degree in Education from Auburn University and a MA degree in Education from Columbus College (now Columbus State University). She taught elementary school for years in the Columbus area and was active in her church and taught Sunday School for 15 years. She loved dancing, was an avid fan of Auburn Football, and loved traveling to their away football games.
Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” David Bagley, III; her daughter, Maggie (Jim) Benson; her grandchildren, Kate Benson and Jordan (Will) English; and her brother, Thomas E. (Nancy) Holley.
A funeral service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00pm. Rev. Matt Stephens will be officiating services. A graveside service will follow the chapel service at Parkhill Cemetery.
