A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ballas will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 29, 2021 in the Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Ballas was born June 9, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Abe and Jessie Ballas. His family moved to Miami, FL where he grew up and graduated from Miami Edison High School. After high school, Mr. Ballas served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After returning from the war, he married his beloved wife Madie Ruth Holland of Columbus, GA and moved back to Miami where their 3 sons were born. They eventually moved back to Columbus in 1975 when he joined Smith-Raymond Mechanical Contractors as a Sheet Metal Mechanic Foreman. He was an avid hockey and sports fan, and passionately cheered on the Columbus Cottonmouths, now the River Dragons. Mr. Ballas loved spending time with his family and creating lasting memories.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ballas was preceded in death by his wife Madie and his brother, Lowell Ballas.
Survivors include his three sons, Jerry Ballas and his wife, Becky, Kenny Ballas and his wife, Pam, and Steve Ballas and his wife, Cheri; four grandchildren, Cody Ballas, Lindsey Ballas, Bryan Ballas, and Hannah Ballas; two step grandchildren, Casey Page and Christian Page.
