Martha Skelton Bouchard Cargill, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a private committal service at Linwood Cemetery before the service.
Martha was born at Fort Benning, Georgia to Winfred George Skelton and Mary Alexander Skelton. She graduated from Columbus High School and attended Huntington College. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a member of the St. Paul Altar Guild, the St. Francis Auxiliary, the Woman’s Reading Club, the Ivy and Brookstone Garden Clubs, the Springer Guild, Meals on Wheels, and the George Walton Chapter of D.A.R. Martha loved working in her garden, doing crossword puzzles, and playing with her grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her mother and father, stepmother Clarkie Davis Skelton, husbands J. Edward Bouchard and Thacker G. Cargill, twin sister Mary Skelton Burdick, sister Ann Skelton Windsor, and brother Winfred George Skelton, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters Cantey Bouchard, Columbus, GA, Jennifer Tommaso, Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Anna Tommaso and Will Tommaso, Charlotte, NC, and sister Joan Skelton, Asheville, NC. She is also survived by nieces Leigh Stewart (Jon), Columbus, GA, Mary Brabner (Steve), Spanish Fort, AL, Sharon Burdick, North Hollywood, CA, Mary Brown, Orange, CA, Sandra Burdick, St. Petersburg, FL, and nephew Dick Windsor (Suzanne), Huntsville, AL, great nieces Elizabeth Brown, Orange, CA, Olivia Jones (Garrett), Nashville, TN, great nephews Alex Windsor, Atlanta, GA, Lane Brabner, Atlanta, GA, Cole (Haley) Brabner, Stockton, AL, and a sister-in-law Bitsy Windsor, Columbus, GA.
