Maria was born February 26, 1961, in Springfield, Missouri to the late Billy Wayne and Mary Nell (LaFollette) Matney. Maria spent her time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, grilling, and baking for her loved ones.
Maria will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Maria Lynn (Wilbert) Williams and Misty Dawn Day; as well as her longtime companion, James Newberry. She also leaves behind two beautiful granddaughters, Amelia and Zoey; and siblings, Laura Benz (Rick) and Dennis (Pamela) Matney.
Maria was preceded in death by her brother, Elza Matney; and her sisters, Teresa Matney and Lisa Eller.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, St. Elmo, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2:00PM- 4:00PM. Burial will take place in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date.
